prof. Charu Monga
Charu Monga is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Design, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. She has a Ph.D. in Design from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati where she has investigated design details in vernacular heritage structures towards cultural construction. Her Bachelors and Masters is from College of Arts, Delhi University also Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. Her research interests include visual communication, animation, filmmaking, digital media, CGI and game design. Her current research focuses upon investigating a variety of virtualization techniques to promote cultural construction towards heritage preservation, innovation, empowering educational areas and science communication.
Previously, she was a faculty member at the Department of Design in Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. Where she had lead ARLab, which worked towards embracing digital media technologies in animation and films. With nine years of industrial experience, she is a recipient of prestigious Film Heritage Foundation fellowship in association with Martin Scorsese’s Film Foundation & Cineteca di Bologna, L’Immagine Ritrovata also Microsoft Research grant for developing interventions in digital creative technologies. She has been a visiting faculty at the SCE Technology Institute in Israel and awarded visiting fellow position in Israel itself. Also served as a jury member of International Conference in Israel and Japan.
She was a visiting faculty at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, College of Arts, Delhi University, NIFT Kangra and worked as a game designer, animator, graphic designer and illustrator for various organizations. She has been associated with World Health Partners, Group Delphoenix, IDC, IIT Bombay, Foundation 9 Entertainment and Digikriti Entertainment for multiple design research projects. Her work has been
sponsored by Red Cross Society, UNICEF, UNIFEM to exhibit in galleries such as Romain Rolland, Habitat Center and Lalit Kala Academy to name a few. She is actively involved with the issues related to design pedagogy, social innovation, cross-cultural researches on communication, creativity methods and published in reputed journals and conferences.
