About

Design Education Conference will be held on the 10 th and 11 th February 2024 with the aim to discuss, reflect and debate the evolving pedagogical aspects of Design in the context of socio-cultural and technological changes.

The landscape of Design in India is very unique due to India's craft and cultural heritage, indigenous design knowledge. India is also now promoting Make in India, Design in India, the Design challenges are immense and the future of design seems to be multifaceted for which the design pedagogy need to strengthen itself for the future. The conference invites papers in the areas of Design teaching and learning from the perspectives of technology, culture and heritage.

Futuring Design Education

The Conference aims for interactive and participatory discussions, dialogues and colloquy between Design academicians, researchers, students and of course practitioners of Design.

The conference will include:

    Futuring Design Education conference will be held at the Lecture Hall Complex, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) on the 10th & 11th February 2024.
    Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is centrally located within South Delhi and is surrounded by the Hauz Khas area. In February, Delhi will be cool in the daytime, however, the temperatures will dip significantly in the evenings. Hence it is advised to travel with warm clothing. Being centrally located, the IIT Delhi campus offers easy access to all the heritage, culinary and contemporary places of interest.
    IIT Delhi is only 10km from the airport. One could hire a taxi and reach the campus in about 15-20 minutes with a cab fare of approximately Rs.350-500.
    Delhi Railway station is about 11km and will take about 25-30 minutes with a cab fare of approximately Rs.350-500. Hazrat Nizamuddin is about 13 km it is very well-connected with cab and auto services.
    Delhi is very well connected with Metro services and one can avail metro service both from the airport and railway stations.

    Submission

    Revised Paper Submission Instructions:
    The revised paper submission deadline is 28th January 2024

    1. **Revised Paper:** Submit your complete revised paper, adhering to the SPRINGER TEMPLATE, within 10 formatted pages. Include:
            -     Title
            -     Author's full name, current affiliation, and email id
            -     Abstract
            -     Keywords
            -     Main content
            -     References
    Save the paper as “Revised_paper_ID#.doc”.
    2. **Figures:** Consolidate all figures into a single zip file (JPEG image, extensions: jpeg, jpg) with a minimum quality of 300 dpi.
    3. **Copyright Form:** Provide a scanned copy of the signed Springer copyright form in PDF format. The form will be available on the FDE 24 website.
    4. **Response to Reviewers:** Submit a PDF document detailing your responses to each reviewer's comments, highlighting changes made to address comments.
    5. **Summary of Findings:** Furnish a document in doc or docx format with a concise sentence (30 words max) stating the most significant findings from your paper.

    Submission Process:
    Follow these steps to upload documents on the CMT platform (https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/FDE2024):

    1. Login to your CMT account.
    2. Click the 'edit submission' button across your Paper ID in the Author Console.
    3. In the "Add or update files" section, retain your original submission file and upload the five files using the 'Choose file' option.
    4. Click 'Submit' to complete the submission. Ensure the total file size does not exceed 100 MB.

    Poster Presentation Instructions:
    1. The size of the poster should be 36 inches x 48 inches in portrait format.
    2. It should have a 2 cm border of blue (HEX code: 335B89)
    3. The poster should contain a clear title of the paper along with the author’s names, affiliations and emails.
    4. The poster content is as per the requirement of the paper and the author, however, it should contain all the pertinent sections of the paper like Introduction, objectives, materials & processes, Results, diagrams, photographs, Conclusion, references for the material used in the poster, Acknowledgements if any.
    5. We have shared a sample of the poster here.
    6. Kindly note that the sections mentioned in the poster are indicative, the authors should include those relevant to their paper requirements.
    7. The authors can choose a layout and Design elements as per their paper requirements.
    8. The posters will be printed at the author’s end.
    9. We have provided an exhibition display area where our team will help you with displaying the poster once you reach the conference venue.
    10. We will be sharing the schedule of the presentation soon. Each presentation is allotted 10 minutes (5 minutes presentation + 5 minutes Q & A)

    Podium presentation:
    The Podium presentations are allotted 15 minutes each (10 mins presentation + 5 mins Q & A)
    All presentations can be made in PPT/PDF format
    Please share the presentation in a pen drive with the FDE team at the venue. The FDE team will help you with the technical aspects of your presentation.
